A real Kia Sorento window tint job at Cali Auto Glass & Tint in El Cajon — full family SUV coverage with ceramic film.

This Kia Sorento came into our El Cajon shop for a full window tint. Three-row family SUVs like the Sorento are some of the most common vehicles we tint, and they present a different challenge than a coupe or a truck: a lot more glass, spread across more seating rows, all of which needs to look consistent from front to back.

Why Consistency Matters More on a Three-Row SUV

A Sorento has front doors, second-row doors, a small quarter window behind the second row, and a large curved rear liftgate window — five distinct shapes that all need to read as the same shade once the sun hits them. Film that’s cut even slightly differently across those panels shows up immediately in direct light. We plot every panel from a digital pattern matched to the Sorento’s exact body style, so the shade reads identically from the front door glass all the way back to the liftgate.

The install happens indoors in our bay, not outside. On a vehicle with this much glass, a dusty install environment means a lot more surface area for contamination to get trapped under the film — which is exactly what makes a tint job look patchy within a year.

Comfort for Every Row, Not Just the Front

Family SUVs spend a lot of time with kids or passengers in the second and third row, and those seats get the most direct sun exposure since they sit further back under more glass. We used ceramic window tint on this Sorento, which rejects infrared heat directly rather than just darkening the cabin — the back rows stay noticeably cooler than they would with a cheaper dyed film at the same shade.

California allows any darkness on rear side windows and the rear liftgate glass, which is where most of a Sorento’s glass area actually is. The front doors are held to a 70% VLT minimum, and we check every install against that limit before the vehicle leaves our lot. Our California window tint law guide breaks down the exact limits window by window.

Protecting the Interior on Longer Drives

Ceramic film also blocks the UV that fades dashboards and cracks upholstery over time — a real consideration on a family SUV that’s likely to rack up miles on road trips and daily school runs alike. If you’re also dealing with a chip or crack in the windshield, our windshield chip repair team works out of the same El Cajon shop.
